As much as I enjoy writing reviews for PC games, what I really get my ya-yas out on is writing strategy guides and this is something I’ve been doing since way back in my Super Nintendo days, i.e., before I even had a website. In other words, I used to write video game strategy guides and walkthroughs just as a kind of a hobby (and, of course, to take notes on how to best play through all my favorite games).
So despite all my other blatherings, this is pretty much the raison d’être of
MajorSlack.com. Currently (and by request) I’m working on a video strategy guide for the 1st UFLL mission in Far Cry 2.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for hints and tips on how to play what I consider to be the best PC games, this is the section to find them in.
Enjoy!
None of these three weapons found on the left side of the right armoury wall in the PC game Far Cry 2 especially appeal to me but they may appeal to you. Here's a rundown of the Dart Rifle, the Type 63 Mortar and the Flamethrower and how to unlock them at the weapon dealer...
People frequently ask me on my Youtube channel why I prefer the RPG-7 instead of the Carl G Rocket launcher. This page explains why plus gives a rundown of the PKM and the M-249 SAW. Includes an armoury wall screenshot, weapon descriptions and the required convoy missions (if applicable).
Unless you're a card-carrying member of the NRA, you may not be able to tell the difference between an Uzi and a MAC-10. This Far Cry 2 secondary weapons guide —which includes all the game's pistols and machine pistols— will help you sort things out. Includes a labelled screenshot of the secondary weapons wall in the armoury plus detailed descriptions and which convoy missions to do to unlock your favorite...
My Far Cry 2 weapons guide continues here with a screenshot of the second batch of primary weapons found on the left wall as soon as you walk into the armoury. If stealthy sniping is your strategy (which is a good one), here's where to find the game's selection of sniper rifles. On the other hand, if you've got a hankerin' to do some spankerin', one of the game's shotguns might be more to your liking. Includes descriptions for each and how to unlock it at the weapon dealer...
If you're having problems telling which weapon is which in the Far Cry 2 armoury, this comprehensive weapons guide will help you out. This page shows the first batch of weapons found on the left wall of the armoury as soon as you walk in. Here you'll find all the game's assault rifles and the MGL-140 Grenade Launcher. Finding yourself screaming "For f#@k sakes!!" every five minutes while playing Far Cry 2 as you're once again forced to run and gun to take cover from enemies who seemingly pop up out of nowhere? Getting frequently accosted by enemy patrols? Has the game quickly turned into a repetitive bore? You may be approaching the game the wrong way. Believe me, I was there. Now I think Far Cry 2 is the best video game EVER. Read what strategies I developed to turn the game completely around for me...
Here's how to build a well balanced weapon loadout in Far Cry 2. This is important to open up the gameplay and make sure you don't lock yourself in to close combat situations all the time which eventually gets very repetitive. The key is to abandon the idea of having a machine gun or assault rifle in the primary weapon slot and instead use that for a sniper rifle...
Here's a detailed rundown of what would be best referred to as my starter or 'first tier' weapon loadout in Far Cry 2. The star of the show here is the M1903 sniper rifle which becomes available right after you finish the training missions...
Putting up with the Makarov pistol in your starter weapon loadout will finally pay off here after you do all the weapon shop missions and gain access to some better weapons, most particularly, the Dragunov sniper rifle and the MAC 10...
One of the key things to having fun in Far Cry 2 is to be keenly aware of enemy alert levels and to only put the enemy into alert mode on your own terms and when you are fully ready. Here's a detailed description of enemy behavior and how to avoid pitfalls which lead to getting repeatedly flanked and outgunned...
