Crysis Cheats – Tweaking Your Config Files

If you don't want to be bothered with the whole Crysis console commands / Devmode thing then here's how you can have cheats applied automatically as soon as you load Crysis. This method involves hacking one or more of your Crysis game configuration files.

Here's how to do this:

  1. Go to your Crysis game install folder (typically this is located at C:\Program Files\Crysis\)
  2. Open the 'Game' folder
  3. Open the 'Config' folder
  4. Locate the config file (.cfg) pertaining the difficulty level you wish to apply cheats to.

    Use this as a guide:

    diff_easy.cfg = Easy
    diff_normal.cfg = Normal
    diff_hard.cfg = Hard
    diff_bauer.cfg = Delta

  5. Assuming that you're going to apply the cheat to the normal difficulty setting, right click on diff_normal.cfg and click 'Copy'.
  6. Press Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste the copied file into the Config folder. This is your backup copy of this file so don't delete it or modify it in any way! You will need this later if you screw things up and/or you want to return to the default settings and you don't remember what they were.
  7. Now right click on diff_normal.cfg again and click on 'Open'
  8. Click on 'Select the program from a list' and click OK
  9. Select 'NOTEPAD' in the list of programs and then click to clear 'Always use selected program to open this kind of file' and then click OK to open the file in Windows Notepad.
  10. With your diff_normal.cfg file open in Notepad, change the numbers for all of the following lines of code to 0:

    g_suitCloakEnergyDrainAdjuster = 1
    g_suitRecoilEnergyCost = 7
    g_suitSpeedEnergyConsumption = 110
    g_playerSuitArmorModeHealthRegenTime = 10
    g_playerSuitArmorModeHealthRegenTimeMoving = 15
    g_playerSuitHealthRegenTime = 20
    g_playerSuitHealthRegenTimeMoving = 27
    g_playerSuitHealthRegenDelay = 2.5
    g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeTimeArmor = 6
    g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeTimeArmorMoving = 7
    g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeTime = 8
    g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeDelay = 1.0

    For example, change this:

    g_suitCloakEnergyDrainAdjuster = 1

    ...to this:

    g_suitCloakEnergyDrainAdjuster = 0

  11. And finally, for lots of extra health while in Armor mode, change this line of code:

    g_suitArmorHealthValue = 100.0

    ...to this:

    g_suitArmorHealthValue = 500

  12. Save the diff_easy.cfg file.

Now when you play Crysis in the Normal difficulty setting, all the following cheats will be applied:

  • The health bar will always be full (except if you're getting shot at while not in Armor mode)
  • You'll have a whole lot of extra health in Armor mode (almost invincible)
  • You'll have infinite suit energy (including no energy loss when firing your weapon)

How to Skip Crysis Intro Videos

What we want to do here is skip all that promo nVidia/Crytek stuff when Crysis first loads so that the you jump immediately to the menu screen. This is especially useful when you're experimenting with config files because it can be a pain waiting for Crysis to plow through all those opening vids every time.

To skip the opening videos, all you have to do is open your Crysis game install folder (by default this would be located at C:\Program Files\Crysis\). Then drill down through these subfolders: Game » Localized » Video. Once in the 'Video' folder, create another subfolder called 'VideoBackup' (or whatever makes sense to you) and then just move all the .sfd files beginning with 'Trailer' from the 'Video' to your 'VideoBackup' folder and you're done.

Now when you load Crysis, you'll jump immediately to the menu screen. If you wish to return the Crysis load procedure back to normal (i.e., with videos) move all the 'Trailer' .sfd files back to the 'Video' folder.
