Crysis Vehicles Strategy

Use vehicles in Crysis whenever you can. The advantages are you can quickly cover a lot of ground and you can race right by enemy positions that you don't really need to eliminate. Moreover, all the jeeps in Crysis have a mounted gun with unlimited ammunition.

Overheating Mounted Weapons

The only thing you have to watch for when using guns mounted on vehicles is that they will overheat after extended use after which they will require a brief cool down period before they can be used again. If your mounted gun refuses to fire and it's making a metallic ticking noise then it's overheated. You can also check your the mounted gun's temperature meter in the HUD to monitor overheating. To avoid overheating mounted guns, learn to fire in short controlled bursts.

Commandeering Jeeps

Use Cloak mode to sneak up to enemy jeeps. Kill the gunner first, then the driver. Then commandeer the jeep.

An easy way to commandeer a moving jeep is to shoot at it quickly to get it to stop. Quickly take cover, regenerate your Nanosuit and then go into Cloak mode. Usually the driver will get out to investigate. Then you can sneak up to the jeep and take out the gunner with a head shot at which point you will be able to enter the vehicle. Sometimes both the driver and the gunner get out to investigate at which point you can just commandeer the jeep right away.

When getting into firefights to commandeer jeeps, be careful not to shoot out any of the tires on the jeep as this will affect its performance.

After commandeering a jeep, keep close watch of the jeep's damage meter and especially which part of the vehicle is damaged (indicated by a red area on the damage meter icon). If, for instance, you see the entire front end of the jeep highlighted in red in the damage meter then this means the engine is damaged and hence this will diminish your top speed. Likewise, if one of the wheels is damaged, this will affect the steering.

Ground Type Affects Performance

Note also that the type of ground you're driving on will affect performance and steering. For example, it may be more difficult to maintain control on a sandy beach then on a road. Other things to watch out for are running over KPA soldiers to kill them. This may be an easy kill but often the corpse will get bunged up in the wheels which will, once again, greatly impair performance. Generally, it's not an advisable strategy to do runover kills unless absolutely necessary (use the mounted gun instead or just drive around them).

Damaged Jeeps

If your jeep is badly damaged, i.e., the red damage meter is almost full, your jeep is now very dangerous as all jeeps will explode once the damage meters fill up completely. However this can be used to your advantage because after you exit the jeep (which is highly advisable at this point), the jeep can be blown up by simply firing a few short bursts at it using your machine gun (from a distance of course). This makes for badass gameplay where you can strategically 'park' a badly damaged jeep and then blow it up to give the enemy a big headache real fast.

Rolling Bomb Strategy

Another wild strategy —which is also a hell of a lot of fun— is to hold down the Boost key while driving a jeep to kick in to top speed mode and then aim the jeep directly at an enemy jeep. Keep driving at top speed and at the last moment jump out and watch your jeep ram into the enemy jeep creating a massive explosion (which usually destroys both jeeps).

When I played through this game I tried to sneak past people killing only when i had to and I learned that if you snipe when in armor mode then swap to cloak instead of having half power, you have full cloak power.

Also cloak drains far more slower when prone. Even prone moving it still drains slower than crouch cloak.

also used the c4 on the boat on the first level where you have to get to the school with the CIA hostage in it. Bypassed the secondary objectives by sea, placed c4 on the boat and then floored it for the mined beach, jumped ship when they saw me and used the exploding boat to create a path for me.The enemies all gathered around boat remains and mines and i just went around them by use of cloak and prone.
